Gently Falling in Island Indigo and Pool Party

A challenge to use my favorite colors!  I love it!

My Stampin' Up! workshop hostess this weekend requested some maple leaf themed ideas to use for her families maple syrup business.  The trees are tapped, the syrup's running, and they're preparing for their annual Maple Fest in just a few weeks.  I thought the Gently Falling stamp set would be perfect so I created this card for one of our workshop make & takes.
It was a bit of a challenge to create a non-fall leaf card, but I like the results.  The Dynamic Duos Color Challenge this week fit perfectly!

Gently Falling is a two-step stamp set.  First, we inked the solid leaf image with Pool Party ink.  Then we used the the "thumping" technique to apply bursts of color to the stamp by randomly tapping it with Summer Starfruit and Tangerine Tango markers and stamped it on Naturals White cardstock.  Second, we inked the detailed leaf image with Island Indigo ink and stamped it overtop of the the first image.  We distressed the Island Indigo cardstock layer by crumpling in our fists, tearing the right edge, and taking out the weeks frustrations.  Yes, this is stamp therapy!  The Antique Brad gives the card a touch of elegance.

Stamps:  Gently Falling, Thoughts & Prayers
Paper:  Pool Party, Island Indigo, Naturals White
Ink:  Pool Party and Island Indigo ink pads, Summer Starfruit and Tangerine Tango markers
Accessories:  Antique Brads
